What a great day a the beach! There were countless insane boards to fondle. It was a fantastic day to picnic, mingle, surf and share our appreciation of surfboards. The grassroots feel and anti-commercialization vibe was killer. Many ideas and concepts were exchanged which can only lead to a push in the evolution of surf craft.
BOARD BUILDERS and BUILDERS OF STUFF THAT GOES IN OR ON BOARDS come on down, we'd love to have you. make sure and introduce yourself around. We are all on the same team!. If you can't make it however, leave you're f'in salesmen at home, this is not that kind of event. It's all about the boards and the people who make and ride'em. Lets think hands on here.
Big guys, little guys, all are on the same playing field here.
Logoed tents and easy ups are not welcome and will be asked to politely leave.
This Thomas Campbell image of Dan Malloy kinda sums up the spirit of the AB3.
There will an after party across the street at The Kraken Bar at 4 p.m. with awards given out (similar to a car show).
Ballots will be available for public participation during the event, come on people vote!
Some of the ones being kicked around are:
-Best homebuilt
-Most unique
-Most non-functional ( or la cucaracha)
-Greenest board
-Best color work
-Youngest builder
-Best in show
-and whatever else we might come up with
Ice 9 Foam Works has been generous enough to donate some blanks for awards so a big thanks to those guys

Shape it, buy it, borrow it, bring it, show up and ride it. WHEN: Sunday March 29, 2009. Start time: whenever you feel like rolling down to the beach. Dawn patrol if you want.
WHAT: "Anything-But-Three/Fish Fry" Alternative Surfboard Event
WHERE: North Harbor, Oceanside-North San Diego County, California. See location on Surfline. *You must pay to park at N. Harbor. There is free parking about a mile away.
WHY: This is a gathering of alternative board riders and craftsman. Think of it as a hot rod show where you get to take the cars around the block for a spin.
WHAT IT'S NOT: This is not a contest or a tradeshow. Participating surfboard companies should bring their shapers, glassers, sanders and team riders but leave the banners and sales reps at home.
*We will be giving away a limited number of event shirts to the deserving and attitude free, so show up early if you want a shirt. AFTER PARTY: 3-6 pm at the Fish Joint in Oceanside.
*Joe Wood will be playing live at the Fish Joint for the AB3 afterparty! 3-6 pm
